Breakup “Recovery” Kit

LOL i came across this and thought it was cute and funny.

It claims to give you “maximum relief  from soul-crushing, revenge-inspiring, self-pitying, and all-around unbearable heartache.” WHOA! That's a big claim!

I doubt it would be able to heal any real broken heart, but it's a nice gesture in the right direction...

Check it out at: http://www.modcloth.com/Apartment/-I-Will-Survive-Kit

10 ways to feel positive when the man you love walks away...

  1. Spring is around the corner (even though you would never think so with all the snow today...)
  2. There is always ONE friend on any given night that needs a drink just as badly as you do
  3. Your heart’s been broken before and you got over it. So, the comfort in knowing that this too shall pass.
  4. Knowing deep down that he will miss you sometimes. Even if it is just for the amazing sex (he is a guy after all).
  5. Thinking of all the next “firsts” that are to come for you... first flirts... first dates... first kisses... first butterflies... first nights ;)
  6. Knowing that you’re one step closer to finding someone who can give you what you want... someone who will want to share their life with you...
  7. Extra reason to look hot when you go out on Saturday nights, or when you go to the grocery store!
  8. Nights at home just means that you’re getting your money’s worth of your mattress you bought 6 months ago and your new flatscreen TV.
  9. Knowing that the guy who will eventually love you is out there feeling miserable without you, and in a terrible relationship right now!
  10. And finally, realizing that your life is already full of love: from friends, family and your godson’s sweet kisses.

What is the most hurtful thing an ex has ever done to you?

Hmm this is a hard question. Sadly because i can think of SO many things exes have done to hurt me. But i definitely know which one tops the list...

It's THE most hurtful thing anyone can do to someone they love: and that's cheat on them. My ex (not my most recent love, but the one prior) cheated on me after a year of us dating. He cheated on me with his ex. It broke my heart into a million pieces. I can't explain the devastation. Only someone who's lived through it can understand. You need to be really strong to pick up the pieces and move on...

And that's where my most recent ex pops into my mind... hopefully he's not reading this post :S I guess i won't know whether he does or not... basically, he decided after 6 months that he couldn't love me for who i am. For reasons that are hard to explain. But for me, who had finally opened my heart to be vulnerable again, it was devastating and disappointing all over again. I still love him and miss him everyday. But i've come to terms with the fact that if he can't love me back, then i'm moving on. Thankfully i have great friends who are helping me do that.

Now for special and memorable moments.... yes there are lots (thankfully!) -- i will talk about my most recent ex because he is the one on my mind... I went away for a weekend in NYC for a friend's dirty-30 bday celebration. I'd been dating my boyfriend for about 2 months at the time. Midway through the weekend there was a delivery to my hotel room: a card wishing me a great weekend with my friends, truffles and champagne... signed from him. I never expected a gesture like that — it was so thoughtful ...That was the weekend i realized that i was falling in love with him...

Sigh... ok let's focus on the future girls! and all the “firsts” to come! Let's hope at least!! lol

Another one bites the dust

So, i've been wrestling in my head for a week about how to write a blog post without sounding like a girl who just got her heart broken… again.
But at this point, “it is what it is”. That's what happened. Yes… again.

The funny thing is, that this time, i was so cautious going into this relationship, that it almost never got off the ground. I was so guarded. I was so skeptical. And I was so careful with my heart, but the second i gave it away, it got broken anyway… that should surely teach me something, right?!

Mid-week last week i was preparing a “positive post” to distract me from all the sadness i was feeling. I had made plans to distract myself every minute of every day. I didn't need ANY time to think… but God works in mysterious ways and i got the flu. A brutal flu. So, i'm now on day #5 of lying in bed and neurotically thinking about every detail of the last 6 months of my relationship…

The hopeless romantic in me couldn't help but think… that maybe he'd show up at my place with flowers and NeoCitran and declare his love for me. Lol But who are we kidding?! That's not happening, so the daydreams and feverish delusions stop here!

Today, it's been like a slap in the face. Finally, after 5 days of thinking, i realize: he doesn't love me , he can't commit to me… so why hold my breath about reconciliation? God knows i've done that in the past for many others, and where'd it ever get me? Nowhere. Just more disappointed… So this time i've got to be stronger, and just accept that he's just not THAT into me, and move on.

Right now i'm feeling like, what's the point of ever trying this again? But i know, from experience, that life moves on, this won't hurt so much in a few months from now, Spring will come and new hope will arise. And the next guy who melts my icy heart, might actually be ready and love me for who i am.

Ok back to bed now…that was enough effort one day!

Have you ever hooked up with an ex AFTER the break-up? Were you able to still stay friendly after the break up and hook up?

HAHA good question : yes, i have hooked up with an EX after the break-up. This dates back to a while ago now though...
And anyway, doesn't that always happen when you break-up? LMAO
About if you can stay friendly... that really depends on the situation and what you had invested. But I would say, most times: YES. But, don't forget, ALL the reasons you broke up are STILL THERE, so usually nothing productive can ever come of this “encounter”. Except a little pleasure for the parties involved ;)

Butterflies

So things are quits w/ me and The Frenchie. Communication is a huge issue for me, and now i know it is for him too. Him and I seem to have floated through the past few weeks without really talking about what we wanted and how we felt about anything... I guess i thought it was too soon to have a serious talk, but now i'm thinking that maybe, if it's the right person, it's never too soon ...

We finally had that talk this weekend.
He simply stated that he doesn't have butterflies.
"Hmmmm.... so, did you discover that before or after we slept together for the like tenth time?" Which was only 30 mins ago by the way. Jerk.
But, hey it's ok. Moving on. More fish in the sea, right? (i know, i hate that expression too...)
Anyway, I'm not sure how many butterflies I even had. I won't deny that I had a few floating around (aka the Wow post!), but i had my doubts that HE was "the one". He did make a great effort though, and did a good job of wooing me. Not many guys do that, so i don't believe that he meant me any harm. We're both just trying to find love in this crazy city! We both deserve butterflies! So many in fact, that you can't see straight!!

I don't know what you think, but I think i'm gonna take a break from this dating scene for a while! Concentrate on being an amazing friend and auntie to all my friends and their kids! They're the ones who deserve all my love anyway xo
P.S. my bday in 11 days and counting ;) kisses!

My 3 & Their Weddings

So, one of my best friends is planning her wedding for next September, and will probably be preggers the morning after. I'm having a blast helping her with anything she needs :)

Wedding planning is REALLY a fun time with a close friend. I've been through it twice in the past and it's some of the fondest memories i hold dear... Wedding dress shopping, invitation designing, paper cutting!! and gluing !! (table placings, thank you cards, invitations), bridesmaid dress shopping (and arguing!), bridal shower planning, bachelorette craziness!, the hair, the makeup and looking super fabulous together :)

This wedding will pretty much wrap up all the “coupling up” of my closest friends. My other 2 best friends got married almost 3 years ago now, both have wonderful houses, dedicated husbands; one has a 17 month yr old (my cutie godson), and the other is beautifully preggers (due this May). I love these 3 girls to death ♥ K,A&J xo

I consider myself sooo lucky to have these chiquitas in my life, among the handful of other super amazing friends i have. I think you get to a point in your life when you realize how lucky you really are to have people around who love you. Who love you for WHO you are. No makeup, no fronting.
They love you on the worst days; when your mascara's running down your face, when you're so plastered you can't put on your own boots, or when all you want to do is call the ex that broke your heart. I don't know what i would do without my friends.
I hope one day, to be planning a wedding of my own... I'm not convinced that's ever going to happen at this point, but “my 3” are, so it gives me hope. I know i will have the best bridesmaids in the world, because they've all gone through the steps. And they also all know that i hate “planning”, so i'll have tons of help there! My awesome sister, who i haven't mentioned in this post because she deserves a post all to herself, will one day be my beautiful maid of honor. And even though she doesn't have the experience yet, of wedding planning, maybe by then she will have! Either way, she knows me in and out, so to have her by my side will be the biggest re-assurance i could ask for.

I consider myself an extremely lucky girl to be a part of these girls lives. And i hope they know how much i love them.

If YOU feel lucky to have great friends in your life, don't forget to tell them. Tell them right now. In person, through a phone call, an email, a text, or in a blog post! Tell them. They deserve to know how amazing they are.

LOVE YOU ALL xox
Thank you Val for always being there for me, for helping me get back on my feet, through all the drama and heartache. For the Godiva chocolates on the days i need a long-distance hug, and for inviting me to TO everytime i need to escape my life! Thank you Julie for being there to heal my broken heart, when i had hurt you more without realizing it...
Thank you Jo for being there and making me get out of bed when i didn't want to go on... Thank you Katie for taking me into your family, cooking me supper, driving me anywhere and everywhere, being there whenever i need a shoulder to cry on, or just some company. Thank you Anastasia&Kiran for being so protective and loving me so much, regardless of my craziness, and making me the Godmother of your amazing child! Thank you James for being a guy that i can trust and lean on when everything seems to go wrong in my day. And for taking care of me the next day when YOU get me plastered the night before!!! Thank you Suli for being able to understand the trials and tribulations of being single! We'll make it through this together! lol

Roxy's “solo” once again...

From ROXY
So folks... as most of you have been anticipating from my status updates and tweets... Tiger and I have officially split. It's sad. I'm sad. But, i'll be ok.

Nothing dramatic to talk about really. We were good together... until we weren't anymore. It was mutual, so there's no hard feelings... but it still sucks to have someone confirm that they don't want to be with you. He's got hurt in the past, and so have I (as you all know!) ... so i think that alone prevented us from opening up to one another. And also, i guess we just weren't meant to be!

It's just hard... how do you go from one relationship to the next... open up and just keep getting hurt...? No wonder us girls become so independent and self-reliant. We surround ourselves with the best girlfriends in the world so that you always have a soft, comforting, great-smelling cushion to fall back on ;) (yes chicas, you're my sexy cushions!)

I guess... one day, with the right guy, “love” WON'T bite you in the ass. But, so far, I've never made it that far... I have a few scars, and they will continue to heal as i move on.

Dating again will happen, just not sure with whom! It's so easy to get wrapped up in a new relationship, and be a hermit with the cold weather. I think i'll focus on seeing my friends and family and not worry about the whole dating thing right now.

Spring's will be on it's way soon anyway, right?! ;)
Stay tuned girls, sounds like 2010 will be a whole new chapter for Roxy! xo

All about me : Roxy

Hello all Sexy Chicas who are reading my new blog!
I invite you to read the few blog posts I have to get acquainted with me a little bit. I promise i'll get better at writing ;) I sometimes go too fast and forget important details: details you girls would like to know. (Got suggestions? contact me and lmk!)
But for starters, I can tell you a little bit about the real Roxy ;)
From ROXY
I'm 28 years old.... and starting to feel the close-to-30-itch... but at the same time, trying hard not to panic. I grew up, playing with my beautiful Barbies, thinking that by 24 i'd have found the man of my dreams; 25 i'd have the perfect house; 27 the babies will come, and by 30 i would just have the most blissful life.
Ya, no. I learnt quickly that life doesn't work that way.
I've had some pretty serious relationships in the past. First serious boyfriend lasted 3 years. The next one lasted 5 years. We lived together for 2 of those years. I thought moving in together was the most logical option, because i was 22... and i was due soon for my happily ever after right? Wrong. Things didn't work out that way. It ended one dark and gloomy xmas night. Seriously.

Then the dating world opened up to me. I had some funny experiences (we'll get to those), one significant long distance one (VERY long distance: Australia) , had the summer of my life, and in the end, met Mr.Perfect. Or... so i thought. He was everything i wanted in a nutshell, and then it ended abruptly right before our one year mark: with him seeing his ex behind my back and not being ready for the next steps in our relationship. He freaked out. It broke my heart. And thank god i had my friends and my sister to help me out of the gloom&doom. I'm proud to say, that it took a while, but i'm soooo over it.

So, then... that's where all the fun began! I've learnt that you have no idea what life's going to throw at you! It's been a rollercoaster of a year; good dates, bad dates, horrible dates, online dates, phone dates... u name it, i've been there. Heck, tomorrow i have a date in Granby! (no, not at the zoo, but that was my first thought too...lol)

My friends have enjoyed my dating stories so much that they couldn't wait for me to start this blog!! And i hope that all the ppl out there who don't know me personally, will come to enjoy my stories as if you're one of my friends. Feel free to write comments, you're own experiences and stories -- god knows that we've all had them!! You'll feel better knowing that you're not the only one looking for Mr.Right and finding Mr.Wrong all over the place!!

Enjoy the stories chicas and live life to the fullest! xo

Naughty Girl

One book that i HAVE to give props to, that i ♥ , and i will continuously quote from, is The Naughty Girl's Guide to Life (Tara Palmer-Tomkinson&Sharon Marshall).
From ROXY

It's a book that i bought on holiday in the UK last year; to pass the time on my 8hr flight home. Little did i know what kind of impact this book would have on me!
This amazing book helped me get over a nasty breakup and got me “mentally prepared” to start dating again. It's a guide to being the most fabulous “you” you can be!

Thx Tara & Sharon ♥
