Dirty thirty
So I survived my Dirty Thirty, but I’m still recovering 4 days later!First thing checked off my SUMMER OF FUN list = ✔ skydiving!
Yes, I actually did it! And it was the most exhilarating feeling! I recommend Parachutisme Adrenaline (located in St-Jerome, QC) to any first-time jumpers. I will definitely go back again!
Next thing to check off my list = ✔ partying it up for my 30th; on Grand Prix weekend in Montreal. We partied at Ballroom with VIP service. I highly recommend them for any night you want to party! The night was epic. Lots of fun, lots of booze, lots of friends = happiness! I wouldn’t have changed a thing! Ok well... maybe the rainy-cold weather... oh and.. the 40 minute walk at the end of the night to find a cab! Apart from that; it was the perfect evening!

Thanks friends for the balloons, cupcakes & flowers at work, the wonderful BBQ with friends, & the night of partying! It was a special day xo I've got a GOOD feeling about my thirties when i'm surrounded by so many good friends and family xo

Summer of fun!
This was all brought on by my 30th birthday that's coming up this June. Wanted to make sure i took advantage of being (still) young, single, living in my cute apartment in the city, with the least responsibilities that i will ever have!
So, here's the list of things i will do during this summer of fun! Feel free to write me if you can think of something else fun that i should add to the list!!
- Dive out of a plane on my 30th birthday!! Yes, skydiving. I can't freakin wait!
- Party it up for my “dirty thirty” on Grand Prix weekend in Montreal!
- Vacation ✔ check check i'm gonnnnne !
- Going to the shooting range (with my sister who's the gun expert - not joking!)
- Bixi Bike riding in the city
- Weekend with the girls to celebrate our 30th birthdays this summer!
- Painting and drawing on my balcony/or take a class
- Going to watch soccer match: Manchester United vs. Real Madrid in New Jersey (July)!
- Book my tickets for the 2012 Summer Olympics (London, England)
- Date Date Date. Join Match.com before my 30th birthday, so that i can enter my info as being 29!!
- Master the art of making “James' Cheeseburgers”!! (James I might need a few samples to start from!)
- Walk everywhere that i can -- up and down the hill i live on... i swear i will do this!
- Go to church, even if it is just one Sunday
- Weekend away at Val's for a girl's weekend of wine tasting, swimming and shopping!!
- Teach my godson to play soccer! (he's 2 and a half)
- Try to get MY knees in working condition so that i can play soccer too!!
- To actually finish some of the books i'm reading
- To email less and facetime more (this goes with buying my iphone4 in June!)
- And finally, to have more amazing nights of drinks and catching up with friends that i don't see enough (aka, this past Friday night at Burgundy Lion - love those peeps!!)

10 ways to feel positive when the man you love walks away...
- Spring is around the corner (even though you would never think so with all the snow today...)
- There is always ONE friend on any given night that needs a drink just as badly as you do
- Your heart’s been broken before and you got over it. So, the comfort in knowing that this too shall pass.
- Knowing deep down that he will miss you sometimes. Even if it is just for the amazing sex (he is a guy after all).
- Thinking of all the next “firsts” that are to come for you... first flirts... first dates... first kisses... first butterflies... first nights ;)
- Knowing that you’re one step closer to finding someone who can give you what you want... someone who will want to share their life with you...
- Extra reason to look hot when you go out on Saturday nights, or when you go to the grocery store!
- Nights at home just means that you’re getting your money’s worth of your mattress you bought 6 months ago and your new flatscreen TV.
- Knowing that the guy who will eventually love you is out there feeling miserable without you, and in a terrible relationship right now!
- And finally, realizing that your life is already full of love: from friends, family and your godson’s sweet kisses.

Christmas Spirit...
Makes me wonder... where does this “spirit” come from anyway? Will it suddenly hit me?
OR maybe this year is a year, where, instead, i'll be thankful for the people in my life... and think back on this whirlwind of a year that just happened... I'll hug my mom when she's thinking of her mom who passed away. I'll hug the new friends i've made, and kiss the ones i've always had. Especially my best friend... she might just need a few extra kisses she can share with her new puppy. I'll put up some mistletoe just so that i can have another romantic kiss with my boyfriend. I'll be thankful for him, my family, my friends and all of our health. I'll send cards to my family in England, and tell my grandad i love him. I'll bring my godson toys on xmas day and kiss him til he giggles and pushes me away. I'll be thankful to see a good friend and pray for her health every night. I'll fight the bad weather and make the extra effort to see the ones that i love.
Maybe that's all xmas is about anyway... Loving the ones I love. Not because i'm supposed to. But because i can. And maybe then... the magic of xmas will surround me...

Bridesmaid... Never a Bride...
I kind of feel like the girl in 27 Dresses, ever seen that movie? It kind of plays on the theory of “always a bridesmaid, never a bride”. But u know what, i'm ok with that (for a while! lol). There's no rush in my life to be the next one planning a wedding. Far from it. Planning is NOT one of my strong points and i do NOT look forward to that stuff.
...the perfect ring on my finger... and the pretty dress... and a guy telling me he'll love me forever.... well... THOSE are the things that i dream about! But i guess one day, my time will come...Maybe AFTER all these big BFF-weddings (this is the 3rd that i'm a bridesmaid in, and counting...) if i'm a lucky girl, i might just go down south one day to escape the drama of planning! Who knows what i'll do.. i'll be 50 anyways right? ;) HAHA ok enough pity-party!! My friends don't appreciate that attitude!
So... next weekend, the bachelorette is planned, the pre-wedding mani-pedis and supper is booked, the wedding-day has some last minute scheduling to be arranged, and the morning-after brunch is scheduled. What else is there to do but save up my pennies, and ENJOY!! (right KK? Enjoy! It'll be over in a flash!)
So... fellow readers, stay tuned for fun party moments!
And I know i've (kinda) given up drinking and all... but i think i'll allow myself a few drinks on this special occasion. ESPECIALLY, since it's the FIRST time that i have a DATE who will be with me at the wedding AND coming home with me AFTER the wedding!! ;) Yes yes, don't worry, i am talking about Mr.Energizer!!! You will be right J?! hahaha kisses xo

How important is it for you to have your friends like your boyfriend and vice versa?
I find this is kind of an important question at the moment because it IS important that my friends like my significant other. Even MORE important that my sister likes him!lol But that's a whole other story!! hehe
Friends are the people who are of most importance in my life and will be around BOTH of us if things start to progress into a serious relationship. I find it interesting to know what kind of vibes people get from the guy your seeing. Things that maybe you don't notice or even think of.
Actually, this past weekend, the guy i'm seeing met one of my best friends, AND my best GUY friends—JB and K. I didn't put any extra pressure before “the meet”, but it was imperative that these friends in my life (who are very protective of me) like the “new guy”!
And thank god that they did! What i found interesting, is that THEY noticed things that i didn't. Example: apparently i was sitting on the couch, balancing a baby and a glass of wine (sounds right up my alley right?! lol) and my guy walked in the room and immediately took the glass away and put it somewhere safe. I didn't even notice this. But, this is how my guy friend KNEW that this guy is a good guy! Funny huh? But it's true, my guy (who we TOTALLY need to find a name for now -- what could it be?) he's totally attentive and always pays attention to if i'm comfortable/uncomfortable, and without saying anything he fixes the situation. It's pretty damn nice to have someone thinking of you like that!
Anyway, all to say friends opinions are of utmost importance, as I'm sure HIS are to him! Luckily i already know his best friend, but i'm sure there are a bunch more to meet!
Thanks for the questions! Keep them coming!

I Want to Be a Downtown Girl!
It's MTV's new reality show called Downtown Girls. There's only 2 episodes so far. And it's fabulous.

it's great. i love it. i want more.
The story follows a bunch of boy crazy best friends who live together in New York City, and are trying to find their Mr Right!
How fun is that?! I have fun with my married friends and all, but how much fun would it be if we were ALL single girls?!!! hehe just food for thought... husbands plz don't send me hate mail !The first episode, they try throwing an “recycle your ex-boyfriend” party!! Hilarious and such a BAD idea! And, in the latest episode, 3 of the BFFs stage a “love intervention” for their friend, because she keeps choosing the wrong guys! Sound familiar ladies?! I tell you -- I should be on this show! Think of the crazy times i would have, and the stories i would have for you! Dang, i'm just in the wrong city!
The main girl, Shallon Lester, is a vlogger and writes an online column for Glamour Magazine called Smitten. Totally cute and well written. Here's her article on Recylcing Your Ex! I tell you, she's the cutest!
Alright enough with listening to me rave about these girls, go watch the show!

Bday weekend!
Originally, this post was going to carry the main message: that i REALLY am not drinking anymore. But looking at my literary for NEXT weekend … that message would end up being a lie. HAHA Next weekend i'm visiting a good friend in Toronto, and she's organized a special wine touring day, that evidently, includes ALOT of wine!! But i figure, it's not binge drinking, so i should be fine. ;) Let's see if my liver feels differently.
So getting back to this past weekend.
Friday was an awesome supper with my closest friends. Reservations were a disaster with Vauvert. I will never book there again. Loved the restaurant the last time i went, but the way they handled my reservation this time was really disappointing.
What happened was: Thursday night, i had to find another restaurant within 24hrs on GrandPrix weekend for 15 people, because Vauvert were suddenly insisting on charging 75$ per person for a special Porsche evening! ( i'd had reservations for over 2 weeks and this was never mentioned previously to me) AGH! Impossible to find somewhere new! Restos in the West Island were laughing at me over the phone! Thank god for having great connections, otherwise everything would have been cancelled! A good colleague/friend of mine helped me out during my hour of crisis, and got me reservations in the Old Port at a resto called GRANGE. If you're ever looking for a place with great drinks, great food and amazing service, on the cusp of the Old Port (McGill), you should go to this place. Freakin awesome! I give it rave reviews! and i think my friends would agree. thanks Ari for hooking it up -- it was an awesome birthday present!
The night was perfect. All my friends made it, even my BFF who had heart surgery last tuesday was there! What a trooper! I am so happy to simply see her smile again :) My sister made it on crutches. My brother who's usually MIA made a huge effort to come as well: out of his normal routine of downtown college bars ;) Even my suburban friends found a babysitter for the night -- sweet !
So, then there was family day on Saturday i won't bore everyone with those details. But we did watch the World Cup England game, that was slightly disappointing with Green's performance (click to see) I can't bear to watch it again.. My heart goes out to the guy… really embarrassing. I don't care if his girlfriend broke up with him right before; there's no excuse for letting that goal in!
So, Saturday night, the party was on again. This time, at a friends place who just moved to the downtown core. Literally on the corner of Sherbrooke and St.-Laurent. It was insane with the Grand Prix parties everywhere. We cabbed it there and back, with my sister on crutches and the city in gridlock. It was fun! You should SEE the place this girl has -- i'm jealous E! By the time the night ended, i had to crash on my sisters couch...
The whole next day was horrible with hangover sickness…
I'm 29 now… my body has spoken. It hates alcohol…...and unfortunately, it's now making me listen to it's nonsense. A few glass of wine with dinner (or at a wine tasting!), but no more than that… I've turned over a new leaf. The damage it does to my body and feeling of the day after just isn't worth it anymore :( Sorry peeps; there's many of you who love 'drunk Roxy' , but this is definitely the end of an era.

I can cry if i want to.

So peeps, yes it's true. Today is my birthday. Same day as the premiere of World Cup 2010. Same weekend as Grand Prix Montreal. But, really. We can all agree that my birthday is the most important out of the bunch. ;)
28 has been a rocky year of mixed emotions (actually, what year hasn't?!), but a truly awesome one. I have reasons to celebrate, reasons to be thankful, reasons to smile, reasons to hug my friends and kiss my godson, reasons to laugh, and reasons to cry.
Tonight, i am celebrating my 29th birthday with my closest friends and my siblings. A year ahead full of hope, health, happiness and love. At least that's what i'm wishing for.
And tonight, we'd better have fun! The planning for this night was a nightmare. I thought i was going to have to cancel, but then, by a strange miracle it got saved by a close colleague of mine. It's weird how things work out sometimes... It just goes to show, that we all just have to stay positive and good things will come!
So, on that note.P.S. no worries, i do indeed have a designated driver to drag me back home when i'm drunk off my ass ;)
Let the good times begin bitches!! xoxo
Health, love and happiness.

Diary Post
But here i am. Always pouring my heart out...This time it's hard to say why.
It's overwhelming.
The amount of news i've heard in the last 7 weeks has been crazy. Up and down, and down and up and then down again. To tell the truth. There hasn't been much positive. Except my best friend being a home with her heart in place at right this second (♥ U), and me meeting The Frenchie. And of course a few other happy announcements here and there :) But I have to say, at least my dating scene hasn't been a disaster (or isn't yet). I do feel myself backing away though; because i'm sad. And when i'm sad, i'm even more independent than usual. Which honestly, is really quite problematic.
I just don't want to push him away. Because i kinda like him. And you know, he's kinda cool. And yes, kinda WOW too. lol
Communication is key, right Bruce? You've told me enough times. So has Tash... I have great friends who know me well, and want to see me succeed at this thing called love. Now i just have to figure it out on my end.
I'll try. But i just needed to say, for the record, that i'm sad, and i'm trying my best to be there for everyone xo And we're going to have some drinks tomorrow night. Some much needed drinks.

Gives Me Hope
GMH is short for Gives Me Hope. You have to read their site to understand; some posts are just so sad they make you cry, whereas others can put a huge smile one your face... People's messages definitely do Give You Hope.
This site might even be helpful for a few friends of mine who went through something really really devastating this past week. When the moment's right, it might help them regain their strength and faith. The passages are just snip-its from people's everyday lives, little moments that have given them hope, and they are choosing to share with the world.
Here's a few examples that touched my heart; they are sad, and sometimes morbid, but they remind you of how precious life is, and that we must appreciate the moments we do have to live:
“I woke up one morning to hear the birds outside my window and my mother cooking breakfast downstairs. I've never cried so much in my entire life. I had been deaf since the age of 8. ”“Today, I found GMH. After reading all the heartwarming stories, I walked into my room, and tore my suicide journal to shreds. I'm shaking out of happiness. GMH. ”
“My dad would always start out conversations with''Do you have a girlfriend yet?''
After laughing and saying no hundreds of times I finally found the courage to tell him I was gay. After a long silence and a stressed out face or two, he calmly said, "Oh. Well.... Do you have a boyfriend yet?"
His fair love GMH.”
GMH also has a few sister sites too:

Betty or Veronica?

The age long debate since 1942 — BETTY or VERONICA?Personally, i always side with Betty because she's the sweet girl-next-door type and always doing sweet things for Archie. She's a sucker for love. And in MY past relationships, that's how i was too... I wonder if i would have acted differently in MY relationships if i'd been Team Veronica all along? hmmmmm...
But in the end, who are we kidding? After all my heart-breaks and vulnerable moments, i still choose Team Betty. After all, us Blonds have got to stick together, right? ;)
It's exciting though: looks like Archie will be choosing his girl soon... who do you choose?

Last Night...
Ok so today i was going to upload my post about last year's awful Valentine's Date. But last night was too much fun to not blog about!
It was Ranya's birthday :) Yes it's her real name. She is now a superstar ;) hehe
We went to Restaurant Vauvert — it was alot of fun, and definitely one of my new favorite places to go for supper, drinks and dancing. Maybe it was because of V-day, but SO many hot single guys! Single ladies, we're hitting this place up again soon!
So, once supper was over, we got up from our table and the dancing began. It was then that i noticed a man, dressed in argyle, with his girlfriend who was passing out on his arm. He sat near us and he didn't stop giving me these “come hither” looks. It was very disturbing. While talking to my friend who was sitting near him, he managed to introduce himself and mention that he had a room upstairs in the hotel. eewwww
So i had been scoping out guys all night long. Trying to decide which ones were too young for me (yes i always like the ones who look 22, lol.) ,which ones had potential, and which ones i should stay away from (aka Mr Argyle sweater). I have to say, there was alot of eye contact going on. But for some reason or another, i think guys are intimated to walk away from THEIR group of guys and into MY group of girls... it sucks. You can see their interested, but they stay clear. I think i need to get better at the “come hither look and smile” ;)
When the night was winding down, i was sitting, talking with my bestest (who's preggers and toughed out the whole night! good job lady!) and I noticed that this guy i'd been eying at the beginning of the night was standing near us, looking at me. I tried my “sexy” look and smile, but he didn't budge. He kept looking , but wasn't making a move. I obviously need some coaching in that area! lol
My lovely and pregnant “wingman” tried her best at including him in our circle as we we sent her husband to get our coats. LOL
He was 2 feet away, and i thought; he's not even going to say hi now?!Finally everyone was ready to go and i gave him one last look, hoping, and he FINALLY said something. He said: “Are you spoken for?” cute.
And then went to say that he's sorry he waited so long to say something. Apparently “I was just so beautiful that he assumed that i'd have a boyfriend”
very cute. It's Valentine's Day after all. I can accept some compliments, right?
So, i took his Facebook name. The new way of exchanging phone numbers for me. You can check out his profile (and his age!) without any pressure!
Only problem... i realized this morning... there's at least 7 profiles with that name, and his picture isn't on any of them! So, which one do i choose? The blank facebook silhouette, who only has 5 friends? The SNL puppets? The ski mask face (who's in a relationship!!!) — let's hope not. OR the high school senior?! (Let's REALLY hope not!!)
So... it took a chance on the SNL puppets profile. We'll see if he writes back.
Maybe my exchange of facebook information wasn't the best way to get someone's info...

My 3 & Their Weddings
Wedding planning is REALLY a fun time with a close friend. I've been through it twice in the past and it's some of the fondest memories i hold dear... Wedding dress shopping, invitation designing, paper cutting!! and gluing !! (table placings, thank you cards, invitations), bridesmaid dress shopping (and arguing!), bridal shower planning, bachelorette craziness!, the hair, the makeup and looking super fabulous together :)

This wedding will pretty much wrap up all the “coupling up” of my closest friends. My other 2 best friends got married almost 3 years ago now, both have wonderful houses, dedicated husbands; one has a 17 month yr old (my cutie godson), and the other is beautifully preggers (due this May). I love these 3 girls to death ♥ K,A&J xo
I consider myself sooo lucky to have these chiquitas in my life, among the handful of other super amazing friends i have. I think you get to a point in your life when you realize how lucky you really are to have people around who love you. Who love you for WHO you are. No makeup, no fronting.
They love you on the worst days; when your mascara's running down your face, when you're so plastered you can't put on your own boots, or when all you want to do is call the ex that broke your heart. I don't know what i would do without my friends.I hope one day, to be planning a wedding of my own... I'm not convinced that's ever going to happen at this point, but “my 3” are, so it gives me hope. I know i will have the best bridesmaids in the world, because they've all gone through the steps. And they also all know that i hate “planning”, so i'll have tons of help there! My awesome sister, who i haven't mentioned in this post because she deserves a post all to herself, will one day be my beautiful maid of honor. And even though she doesn't have the experience yet, of wedding planning, maybe by then she will have! Either way, she knows me in and out, so to have her by my side will be the biggest re-assurance i could ask for.
I consider myself an extremely lucky girl to be a part of these girls lives. And i hope they know how much i love them.
If YOU feel lucky to have great friends in your life, don't forget to tell them. Tell them right now. In person, through a phone call, an email, a text, or in a blog post! Tell them. They deserve to know how amazing they are.
LOVE YOU ALL xox
Thank you Val for always being there for me, for helping me get back on my feet, through all the drama and heartache. For the Godiva chocolates on the days i need a long-distance hug, and for inviting me to TO everytime i need to escape my life! Thank you Julie for being there to heal my broken heart, when i had hurt you more without realizing it...
Thank you Jo for being there and making me get out of bed when i didn't want to go on... Thank you Katie for taking me into your family, cooking me supper, driving me anywhere and everywhere, being there whenever i need a shoulder to cry on, or just some company. Thank you Anastasia&Kiran for being so protective and loving me so much, regardless of my craziness, and making me the Godmother of your amazing child! Thank you James for being a guy that i can trust and lean on when everything seems to go wrong in my day. And for taking care of me the next day when YOU get me plastered the night before!!! Thank you Suli for being able to understand the trials and tribulations of being single! We'll make it through this together! lol

Roxy's “solo” once again...
![]() |
| From ROXY |
Nothing dramatic to talk about really. We were good together... until we weren't anymore. It was mutual, so there's no hard feelings... but it still sucks to have someone confirm that they don't want to be with you. He's got hurt in the past, and so have I (as you all know!) ... so i think that alone prevented us from opening up to one another. And also, i guess we just weren't meant to be!
It's just hard... how do you go from one relationship to the next... open up and just keep getting hurt...? No wonder us girls become so independent and self-reliant. We surround ourselves with the best girlfriends in the world so that you always have a soft, comforting, great-smelling cushion to fall back on ;) (yes chicas, you're my sexy cushions!)
I guess... one day, with the right guy, “love” WON'T bite you in the ass. But, so far, I've never made it that far... I have a few scars, and they will continue to heal as i move on.
Dating again will happen, just not sure with whom! It's so easy to get wrapped up in a new relationship, and be a hermit with the cold weather. I think i'll focus on seeing my friends and family and not worry about the whole dating thing right now.
Spring's will be on it's way soon anyway, right?! ;)Stay tuned girls, sounds like 2010 will be a whole new chapter for Roxy! xo

I was the disaster of the Office xmas party!

Well, the festivities have begun! The Xmas parties, the decorations, the alcohol! My office xmas party that was this past Friday... And oh my. Things got out of hand... I blame it firstly on the nervousness of the fashion show i participated in, secondly on the bartender who fed me mixed drinks (Bram!) at the bar. And i know it was my decision to GO to the bar—but partial blame is on my friend Finnie here!... he half dragged me (and half held me up while i was skipping). Oh my.
What happened from then on, i don't even remember. Luckily i was surrounded by wonderful people who took care of me for the next few hours. One of my best friends, who was also wasted, managed to contact Tiger to pick me up, organize my millions of bags, get my winter jacket and boots on me, and single handedly support me out to the waiting car in 5 inch heals and party dress. It was minus 20 Friday night and extremely icy... Did i forget to mention i love you A? xo
Ok so from then on i don't know what happened. I woke up the next morning in my pyjamas with Tiger's arms around me in bed. It took a second for the sickness to register with my brain, before i had to run to the bathroom. Really not fun. I kept getting flashes of the night before through the splitting headache. I groaned when i remembered being sick in the office bathroom... thank god for an awesome girl from Web, who hardly knows me, but took care of me while i was feeling sick at the party. And who helped me get to the bathroom in time before making a complete fool of myself. Man oh man. Thank you chica! I owe you one!
I still don't know all the details of the party. I'm sure i will be the butt of jokes tomorrow at work... I spoke to a few co-workers/friends this weekend and already heard a few stories. I danced. Apparently alot. It was my good friend James held me up while i danced. And there were pictures. Lots of pictures.
Great. And apparently i have a great new friendship with the receptionist... of whom i didn't even know her name until Friday night. Hi Diana. Hope we had fun. lol
Anyway, i thought i'd share my experiences, and let you know that Roxy's drinking days are officially over. To that degree anyway! I can't get drunk like that anymore. It hurts too much the next day. And i have too many good, important people in my life (to name a few, J, A, Tiger...) who shouldn't have to take care of me like that! So, i'm sorry peeps, you know i love you all more than anything and you're all getting nice big xmas gifts xo
