It's been fun!
With bittersweet feelings, I’m officially closing the blog. I feel like I might shed a few tears, but all this means is that my platform for expression is changing. I am no longer that crazy party girl with hot dates every week that I was 2 and a half years ago. My priorities have shifted since Roxy’s premiere in September 2009. Man, does time fly when you’re having fun!
My new adventure will be to start up a new blog that is more relevant to my life at the moment. Something true to me; that still embraces a creative-sexy-fun and more mature lifestyle. Something I don’t mind sharing with everyone, including my family if they wanted to take a peak. Something that’s simpler to manage, because sometimes there’s no time in a day to update a blog!
I realize this new blog probably won’t be popular or get praise, but I need to continue something for me that lets me share creative thoughts and ideas with the world. Whether or not anyone listens is besides the point ;)
So I say to my dedicated readers: whether they are lovers or haters: thank you for having fun with me all these years! I enjoyed every moment of it! Roxy will always be a part of me ;)
Kisses xx

Appreciation
I got a humbling surprise in the mail yesterday. A good friend of mine who lives in Toronto sent me a snail mail letter about how much she appreciates me; “the top 5 reasons why i'm awesome”. lol
At first she made me laugh, but by the end i was in tears. It's rare these days that we tell each other how we feel. We have so much technology available, but somehow it seems that this only allows us to be more disconnected from each other. It honestly felt good to know how much someone appreciates me, and to have it said in handwritten letter makes it so much more personal.
I'm guilty of not calling friends i used to call because i see how they're doing on Facebook. But they don't know that i care/think about them. And let's be honest, a phone call or coffee date with a friend is A MILLION TIMES better than a “Facebook like”.
On this note, i will not allow myself to ONLY use my blog or Facebook to say much i care about my friends. I will make it my mission to tell them/show them, in some way, how much i love and appreciate them.
Thank you Val xx You really made my day yesterday!

SUCCESS!
Turns out, he wasn't after any booty at all! Maybe he is, actually, a good guy...You wouldn't have been able to convince me of THAT last year. Do you remember him? He was my first official blog post because i was soooo in TABARNAQUE against him! Read that post to find out what had pissed me off so much!
I have to say tho, since then, we've taken a loooong no-talking break, after months we started chatting on MSN again, and now we go to the movies from time to time. And i was honestly shocked that he wanted to help me with this A/C... I thought he must have other motives.
After all that though, i think my lack of feelings for him is pretty clear. I'm pleased that he was just coming over to help me, and expected nothing in return. At least i know i'm not interested, and he can simply be a guy friend!
On that note, I also want to give a shoutout to my best guy friend, BRUCE, who came all the way out here to help me last Tuesday night. He's the one who did the installation of the first A/C (that we didn't know was broken). Thx JB! Ur the best! xo And also thx to A who gave me this A/C from her garage! I owe all you guys!
xo kisses

eek i'm 29!
It's just now i realize that i have to rewrite all my descriptions for Blogger, my About Me page, my Twitter account, and my Facebook Fan Page. Gosh... how am i going to word this?!
Here are a few ideas:
“ I'm 29, dating and FREAKING OUT because next year i'm 30!” ok maybe that's not very smooth...
“I'm a 29 year old single gal, looking for love... or at least a good date! I'm trying not to think about my lifeplan i made up when i was 10, about where i was going to be when i turned 30... trying very hard... but can't help but hear the ticking every once and a while...” HAHA no, that's depressing
Ok so instead let's write it something like this:
“I'm 29, i'm single, and (most the time) i'm lovin it!! Life is short, it's time to do the things you love! My friends are my heart, my family is my rock, i have a fabulous apartment in the city, and i have a crazy dating life! Follow along as the craziness continues! ”What do you guys think? Good to go? ;)

Gives Me Hope
GMH is short for Gives Me Hope. You have to read their site to understand; some posts are just so sad they make you cry, whereas others can put a huge smile one your face... People's messages definitely do Give You Hope.
This site might even be helpful for a few friends of mine who went through something really really devastating this past week. When the moment's right, it might help them regain their strength and faith. The passages are just snip-its from people's everyday lives, little moments that have given them hope, and they are choosing to share with the world.
Here's a few examples that touched my heart; they are sad, and sometimes morbid, but they remind you of how precious life is, and that we must appreciate the moments we do have to live:
“I woke up one morning to hear the birds outside my window and my mother cooking breakfast downstairs. I've never cried so much in my entire life. I had been deaf since the age of 8. ”“Today, I found GMH. After reading all the heartwarming stories, I walked into my room, and tore my suicide journal to shreds. I'm shaking out of happiness. GMH. ”
“My dad would always start out conversations with''Do you have a girlfriend yet?''
After laughing and saying no hundreds of times I finally found the courage to tell him I was gay. After a long silence and a stressed out face or two, he calmly said, "Oh. Well.... Do you have a boyfriend yet?"
His fair love GMH.”
GMH also has a few sister sites too:

When Will It All Be Over?
Her name is Addison Woods, and from what i gather, her ex found her blog, and now she's done. I am so curious to know what kind of posts she had been writing to delete everything from this guys view.
If my ex saw my site, or even the guys i've been on dates with, i'd say: READ and LEARN. They would know the truth about how they hurt me and how i feel about life in general. They would also see that i'm fine now: I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you (yes i'm quoting Gloria Gaynor!) hehe
So, my message to Addison Woods, is keep up the good work, let your heart sing, and let it alllll hang out. He'll finally know your truth! (ok if you put posts about cheating on him or something then maybe removing selective posts is a good idea). But, from reading your bio, and your fans comments, you seem like a very interesting person, who should continue to be heard!
Anyhoo chica, you can always write on my blog if you need to vent! I think i'll be sticking around for a while. Any advice for Addison? Write her some comments below!

TOP 10 Favorite Blog Posts of 2009
There are so many blogs out there now, and so much stuff to read online, that it can get overwhelming at times. So instead of my Inspiration of the Week; this is kinda like my personal Inspiration of the Year.
I'd like to do a shoutout to my favorite blogs and bloggers who've inspired me to be a better blogger myself. I'm very new at this game, and it's really challenging to be up to par with these sites! I try not to stress and continue to do this just for fun! What's the point otherwise ?!
So here are some of my favorite bloggers/blogs/blog posts from the year!
Who knows, maybe next year i'll be someone's favorite blogger as well ;)
image source: montage of clips from users blogs
10. 100+ Portraits of Iconic People of All Time (www.webdesignerdepot.com)
9. The Workstations of Popular Websites (www.webdesignerdepot.com)
This made me happy to see that us “bloggers” are really all the same! My “workstation” looks very similar to many of these writers. Makes you feel good to know u fit in real well ;) hehe
8. The Most Controversial Magazine Covers of All Time (www.webdesignerdepot.com)
Since i'm a designer and have always dreamed of designing magazines, this is one of my favorite posts to see! How interesting!!
7. 40 Seriously Funny Print Ads (www.webdesignerdepot.com)
I had sent this link to everyone i work with, because good marketing and creative concepts deserve to be talked about! and everyone needs a good chuckle at work!
When i started my blog earlier this year, i had no clue how it all worked — i had an awesome friend help me out and together we designed the site. However, being the creative person i am, i constantly want to change my image and improve on what i've done. In the not-so-distant future i will try looking into how to change my interface to be more interactive and veer away from typical-blogger-look that i have at the moment. Gonna try to fit that in between writing posts, working, dating and living life :) Stay tuned!
5. The Graphic-Exchange Blog (blog by Fabien Barral)
I did a whole blog post on Fabien Barral a little while back. His site is still a huge source of inspiration for me as a designer. Plus he wrote to me saying that he appreciated my blog post; does that mean i can say he's my friend now? lol.
4. Creative Advertisments That Inspire You (http://wparena.com/)
I've bookmarked this post and go back to it anytime i need a little bit of advertising inspiration.
3. ABDUZEEDO abducted by design
amazing tips and inspiration. Plus they always give lots of freebies (wallpapers,etc.).love them!
2. The Skinny (Forever 21's blog)
We all ♥ Forever21, so what's NOT to love about their blog?! They write about everything fashion, style, magazines, photography and more :)

Inspiration of the Week
I am a graphic designer. I love design. I love beautiful things. I love images that make me think and feel at the same time. And now, i also love Fabien Barral.
He doesn't know me. But i love him. Well, his work anyway! My Inspiration of the Week this week is dedicated to him. Hopefully he'll read this and smile, knowing that he can inspire people from all over the world. (He lives in France)
Here are a few images of his work from his numerous websites:
He has a site dedicated to his craft — graphic design. In which he is AMAZING. And i don't say that lightly, because i am surrounded by artists and designers everyday.
He has a site www.harmonie-interieure.com/home.htm on which he sells products that he designs and creates with his wife. If shipping wasn't so expensive i think i would buy everything!!!
And the 3rd site is his blog Graphic-Exchange. Of which, i will now be a dedicated reader. He shows us what inspires HIM and his personal work. There's just so much info: i'm in inspiration overload!
I hope you all enjoy this just as much as me, even if you're not designers :) And, if you read this Fabien, thank you for inspiring us all!

OMG...he read my blog!
Ok so the scariest thing happened to me. The guy i'm seeing. The guy i like. Tiger. He read my blog!
So, not only did he read about my weird crazy dating stories and see the slightly neurotic side of me, but he also read about how much i liked him when i met him at Halloween, AND how i prepped songs for our supper date at my place!! Oh boy. Embarrassing.
And I honestly thought he might just walk away.
But he didn't.
And yes. He's probably reading this right now. hi sexy ;)
So... things are going well. Date #who-knows-what is coming up soon. He's still just as awesome, actually more awesome, than i even thought he was going to be.
I'm still trying to figure out:
#1 — why he's still single, and
#2 — what's his big bad secret ;)
I'll let you know if i find out anything (or P.S. tiger u can comment on this blog post Anonymously and keep my lovely readers informed. hehe)

Weekend of Fun!!
Are you guys as excited as i am to see New Moon??!! Hells ya! Even though the movie's probably nowhere near as great as the book, you can definitely still enjoy the hotness! My plan is to head to Toronto next weekend and watch New Moon with another devoted fan, ValTheCityGal ;) We're going to have an ultimate girlie weekend and it's going to rock! I'm sure Val will write an in-depth blog post about it: she is a great writer and doesn't let any detail go un-noticed! Let's not let any secrets slip ok Val? hehe ;)
Wonder what's on the itinerary....?
I'll give you guys a recap when i get back!! xo

All about me : Roxy
I invite you to read the few blog posts I have to get acquainted with me a little bit. I promise i'll get better at writing ;) I sometimes go too fast and forget important details: details you girls would like to know. (Got suggestions? contact me and lmk!)
But for starters, I can tell you a little bit about the real Roxy ;)

Ya, no. I learnt quickly that life doesn't work that way.I've had some pretty serious relationships in the past. First serious boyfriend lasted 3 years. The next one lasted 5 years. We lived together for 2 of those years. I thought moving in together was the most logical option, because i was 22... and i was due soon for my happily ever after right? Wrong. Things didn't work out that way. It ended one dark and gloomy xmas night. Seriously.
Then the dating world opened up to me. I had some funny experiences (we'll get to those), one significant long distance one (VERY long distance: Australia) , had the summer of my life, and in the end, met Mr.Perfect. Or... so i thought. He was everything i wanted in a nutshell, and then it ended abruptly right before our one year mark: with him seeing his ex behind my back and not being ready for the next steps in our relationship. He freaked out. It broke my heart. And thank god i had my friends and my sister to help me out of the gloom&doom. I'm proud to say, that it took a while, but i'm soooo over it.
So, then... that's where all the fun began! I've learnt that you have no idea what life's going to throw at you! It's been a rollercoaster of a year; good dates, bad dates, horrible dates, online dates, phone dates... u name it, i've been there. Heck, tomorrow i have a date in Granby! (no, not at the zoo, but that was my first thought too...lol)
My friends have enjoyed my dating stories so much that they couldn't wait for me to start this blog!! And i hope that all the ppl out there who don't know me personally, will come to enjoy my stories as if you're one of my friends. Feel free to write comments, you're own experiences and stories -- god knows that we've all had them!! You'll feel better knowing that you're not the only one looking for Mr.Right and finding Mr.Wrong all over the place!!
Enjoy the stories chicas and live life to the fullest! xo
