Christmas Spirit...

The lights are up... the tree is glittering (ok only half way for now, pics to come when it's done)... presents are underneath it; ready to be wrapped... snow is on the ground... holiday songs are playing in the air... xmas movies on TV... but no xmas spirit to be found...
Makes me wonder... where does this “spirit” come from anyway?
Will it suddenly hit me?
OR maybe this year is a year, where, instead, i'll be thankful for the people in my life... and think back on this whirlwind of a year that just happened... I'll hug my mom when she's thinking of her mom who passed away. I'll hug the new friends i've made, and kiss the ones i've always had. Especially my best friend... she might just need a few extra kisses she can share with her new puppy. I'll put up some mistletoe just so that i can have another romantic kiss with my boyfriend. I'll be thankful for him, my family, my friends and all of our health. I'll send cards to my family in England, and tell my grandad i love him. I'll bring my godson toys on xmas day and kiss him til he giggles and pushes me away. I'll be thankful to see a good friend and pray for her health every night. I'll fight the bad weather and make the extra effort to see the ones that i love.

Maybe that's all xmas is about anyway... Loving the ones I love. Not because i'm supposed to. But because i can.   And maybe then... the magic of xmas will surround me...

Trick or Treat

So we all know that Halloween is all about candies when you're a kid, and about sex when you're a big kid ;) hehe
It's every shy girl's excuse to get sexed up and totally rock an outfit she would never normally wear.
For me, this year, just like last year ( do u remember that fun?! Tiger Woods anyone!!! Lol) I will be a sexy vampire ;) I spent so much $$ on the costume last year, that I have to at least get 2 wears out of it! Plus, it is uber hot. Only down side is that I will be at a 1 year old's birthday/Halloween party this year... So it might be a little TOO sexy... Oh well, I'll rock it anyway. Here's a preview:

I tried to convince the BF to be Stefan from Vampire Diaries, but he didn't like that idea... oh well I can pretend!! Haha

Happy Halloween my sexy readers! If u have pics of your sexy Halloween costumes, please share!! I would love to see!

Recap: Girls Weekend in TO!

Here's the recap of my awesome girls' weekend!! I visited my friend Val in Mississauga for girls talk, wine drinking, gossiping, shopping and tanning :)

Only hard thing about the weekend was all the driving... I'm recovering from the 5.5hr drive x 2 in 48hrs. That's alot for one single girl!  But Rihanna, Hedley and many other randoms kept me in good company during the drive! ;)

RECAP of FUN TIMES:
• Arriving Friday late at night (after watching the disappointing England World Cup game... no comment)
• Saturday was wine day -- i discovered a whole world of wine in Niagra on the Lake (beautiful area!). Bought 2 bottles of wines that i loved (ok so, i will just drink these bottles and THEN be off the booze for good like i promised! HAHA

• My friend and I had an awesome organic lunch at a restaurant in a vineyard with a gorgeous view of the valley. I need to send my sister there! She'd love it!

• We ordered Szechuan delivery for supper, and rented When in Rome on Rogers demand (cute!). Perfect lazy end to a busy day!
• Sunday we got up and shop shop shopped til we dropped! Or, actually until my credit card couldn't take any more!! HAHA So many nice new things -- including gorgeous shoes! ... i just couldn't resist. Damn i'm bad. Oh well, happy belated birthday to me!! lol
• Sunday yummy lunch and afternoon spent by Val's pool. Soooo relaxing in the sun. So much in fact that i didn't realize the time go by, and had to rush around when i realized it was already 4:45! I left at 5:15 for my long drive back home solo...
• P.S. Thank god for RedBull when ur tired driving at night!
• P.P.S. McDs isn't a good idea to eat twice in one weekend...

Home sweet home! thanks for the weekend Val! Always so much fun! xo

Bday weekend!

I don't really know where to start with this recap of the crazy bday weekend i had. Everything that COULD have been disastrous ended working out fine, and all in all, i had a great night/weekend!

Originally, this post was going to carry the main message: that i REALLY am not drinking anymore. But looking at my literary for NEXT weekend … that message would end up being a lie. HAHA Next weekend i'm visiting a good friend in Toronto, and she's organized a special wine touring day, that evidently, includes ALOT of wine!! But i figure, it's not binge drinking, so i should be fine. ;) Let's see if my liver feels differently.

So getting back to this past weekend.
Friday was an awesome supper with my closest friends. Reservations were a disaster with Vauvert. I will never book there again. Loved the restaurant the last time i went, but the way they handled my reservation this time was really disappointing.

What happened was: Thursday night, i had to find another restaurant within 24hrs on GrandPrix weekend for 15 people, because Vauvert were suddenly insisting on charging 75$ per person for a special Porsche evening! ( i'd had reservations for over 2 weeks and this was never mentioned previously to me) AGH! Impossible to find somewhere new! Restos in the West Island were laughing at me over the phone! Thank god for having great connections, otherwise everything would have been cancelled! A good colleague/friend of mine helped me out during my hour of crisis, and got me reservations in the Old Port at a resto called GRANGE. If you're ever looking for a place with great drinks, great food and amazing service, on the cusp of the Old Port (McGill), you should go to this place. Freakin awesome! I give it rave reviews! and i think my friends would agree. thanks Ari for hooking it up -- it was an awesome birthday present!

The night was perfect. All my friends made it, even my BFF who had heart surgery last tuesday was there! What a trooper! I am so happy to simply see her smile again :) My sister made it on crutches. My brother who's usually MIA made a huge effort to come as well: out of his normal routine of downtown college bars ;) Even my suburban friends found a babysitter for the night -- sweet !

So, then there was family day on Saturday i won't bore everyone with those details. But we did watch the World Cup England game, that was slightly disappointing with Green's performance (click to see) I can't bear to watch it again.. My heart goes out to the guy… really embarrassing. I don't care if his girlfriend broke up with him right before; there's no excuse for letting that goal in!

So, Saturday night, the party was on again. This time, at a friends place who just moved to the downtown core. Literally on the corner of Sherbrooke and St.-Laurent. It was insane with the Grand Prix parties everywhere. We cabbed it there and back, with my sister on crutches and the city in gridlock. It was fun! You should SEE the place this girl has -- i'm jealous E!  By the time the night ended, i had to crash on my sisters couch...

The whole next day was horrible with hangover sickness…
I'm 29 now… my body has spoken. It hates alcohol…
...and unfortunately, it's now making me listen to it's nonsense. A few glass of wine with dinner (or at a wine tasting!), but no more than that… I've turned over a new leaf. The damage it does to my body and feeling of the day after just isn't worth it anymore :( Sorry peeps; there's many of you who love 'drunk Roxy' , but this is definitely the end of an era.

I can cry if i want to.

So peeps, yes it's true. Today is my birthday. Same day as the premiere of World Cup 2010. Same weekend as Grand Prix Montreal. But, really. We can all agree that my birthday is the most important out of the bunch. ;)
28 has been a rocky year of mixed emotions (actually, what year hasn't?!), but a truly awesome one. I have reasons to celebrate, reasons to be thankful, reasons to smile, reasons to hug my friends and kiss my godson, reasons to laugh, and reasons to cry.

Tonight, i am celebrating my 29th birthday with my closest friends and my siblings. A year ahead full of hope, health, happiness and love. At least that's what i'm wishing for.

And tonight, we'd better have fun! The planning for this night was a nightmare. I thought i was going to have to cancel, but then, by a strange miracle it got saved by a close colleague of mine. It's weird how things work out sometimes... It just goes to show, that we all just have to stay positive and good things will come!
So, on that note.
Let the good times begin bitches!! xoxo
P.S. no worries, i do indeed have a designated driver to drag me back home when i'm drunk off my ass ;)

Health, love and happiness.

The Drought

So, i'm sitting here, watching the Olympics, wondering what dating stories I haven't told you all! It's February in Montreal, and the dating scene is slow right now...
ok, honestly, it's dead.
It seems like every guy i meet, or in effect tonight, every guy i talk to, i'm all of a sudden interested in!
I mean tonight, I was actually flirting with the TD Financial Advisor who called me from Markham Ontario to review my GIC investments! He sounded cute i swear! And he was smart — about RRSPs! ;)
And then there was the guy the other night. I was at my friends house, watching the hockey game, and a  male friend of theirs came over. All of a sudden i'm totally checking him out! And honestly, we probably have nada in common, apart from our love for hockey! LOL i'm simply a disaster!

I'm constantly having fantasies about my athletic therapist — who is HOT and funny, but unfortunately engaged... I talk about HIM all the time on my Twitter feed ;)

It seems like any guy who comes along and talks to me, i'm drooling over! What happened to cool, sexy Roxy being selective? ;)
I'll be the first to admit, I am in desperate need for Spring to arrive! And for me to meet some eligible bachelors who aren't just the mailman!

I want the ipad!

Ok so as all of you know, i've ranted and raved about it since it's launch yesterday: I want the new ipad.
I'm not one to talk though, i still haven't managed to save up my pennies for the freakin' iphone yet, and here i am drooling over the ipad. But now i'm thinking, maybe i should save up for THIS instead? Only thing is that, with this in my purse, my shoulder will definitely give out and the about i'd pay in physio bills could make me bankrupt... lol

So, instead of wondering what would be the best purchase for me, let's see pics and reviews of the ipad :)

“Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the iPad. It's got the touch screen and apps of an iPod and the size and clarity of a laptop, and apparently you type on it with your fingers as if the keyboard was flat and plastic. First impressions: This is going to destroy what remains of everyone's posture.
— iPad Liveblog [Gizmodo]

APPLE.com
The best way to experience the web, email, photo, and video. Hands down.
All of the built-in apps on iPad were designed from the ground up to take advantage of the large Multi-Touch screen. And they work in any orientation. So you can do things with these that apps you can’t do on any other device.

Simon Osborne-Walker from Stuff Magazine tells the Mail Online:
'Apple has finally confirmed the worst-kept secret in tech - the launch of a
tablet computer, the iPad. Yes, shame about the name.
'Looking very much like an enlarged iPhone with a 9.7-inch screen, it uses
the same slick touchscreen experience as Apple's wonder-mobile, but with the
extra size and power to handle proper media and web browsing.

'The importance of the iPad, though, is with the software. Launched alongside
it was the iBook app and iBook Store, which could cement the ebook's place
in modern life - something the Amazon Kindle ebook reader was trying but
failing to do. There's also the promise of interactive e-magazine content to
be sold through iTunes.
'The iPad perhaps isn't going to change the face of computing, but it may
change the face of publishing.'

So, I think my FINAL THOUGHTS are that #1 it's awesome. No one can come close to APPLE's innovative ways of thinking.
And #2, i'll need to see it in person and play with it to know if i should forgo the iphone and get this instead. Stay tuned for my 2010 purchases!! hehe
And #3, for those who wait, next year they'll be something EVEN more amazing!!

But, until then, let's rejoice in everything Apple xoxoxoxox

TOP 10 Favorite Blog Posts of 2009

There are so many blogs out there now, and so much stuff to read online, that it can get overwhelming at times. So instead of my Inspiration of the Week; this is kinda like my personal Inspiration of the Year.

I'd like to do a shoutout to my favorite blogs and bloggers who've inspired me to be a better blogger myself. I'm very new at this game, and it's really challenging to be up to par with these sites! I try not to stress and continue to do this just for fun! What's the point otherwise ?!

So here are some of my favorite bloggers/blogs/blog posts from the year!
Who knows, maybe next year i'll be someone's favorite blogger as well ;)

When i started my blog earlier this year, i had no clue how it all worked — i had an awesome friend help me out and together we designed the site. However, being the creative person i am, i constantly want to change my image and improve on what i've done. In the not-so-distant future i will try looking into how to change my interface to be more interactive and veer away from typical-blogger-look that i have at the moment. Gonna try to fit that in between writing posts, working, dating and living life :) Stay tuned!

5. The Graphic-Exchange Blog (blog by Fabien Barral)
I did a whole blog post on Fabien Barral a little while back. His site is still a huge source of inspiration for me as a designer. Plus he wrote to me saying that he appreciated my blog post; does that mean i can say he's my friend now? lol.

Roxy's New Year's Resolution

From ROXY
Hmmm i've been thinking about this one for a few weeks now...
What do i REALLY want to focus on in this New Year? ...finding my Mr.Right... workout to get my body healthier... less stress... eat better... spend less... pay off debts... save for all those wonderful things i want and places i want to go... spend more time with the ones i love... drink less (and don't make a fool of myself at Office Xmas Parties!!!)...

So... when it comes down to it, i just want to improve on ME. Improve myself in many facets of life. There's not ONE thing i need or want more than all the others.

So, can my New Year's Resolution simple be : BE A BETTER ME.?
I think i'll have less chance of failing that way too. Some things are bound to work, and some things will take more time (like the whole no drinking thing...i mean, who are we kidding here?).

I think overall this past year was SO much fun! I did alot alot of things, and i've been busy almost every second of the year. Literally. You can ask my colleagues! I mean, after all, i was getting over a breakup for part of the year. Everyone's allowed some fun, right? But, with dwindling amounts in my bank account, i think the responsible Roxy needs to come out to play for a little while. So, maybe instead of going out for drinks with my bestest, i should stay at home and make her a martini instead. You meet a lot less guys that way... but cmon' it's -28 degrees outside anyway. How many guys are going to find you attractive with an Eskimo jacket and woolly toque on anyway?? The guy i'm seeing (who you all know as : Tiger) thinks i look like a Rastafarian with one of my winter toques on... that can't be good! but, i don't care, it's cold!

So, all this to say that i think i need to take a little time to chill and be a better me this year. Less frivolous spending, more quality time with family and friends, healthier eating, and yes, i'll try to cut-down on the drinking! I think that's the best New Year's Resolution i can make for myself :)

On that note: HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Be responsible at all your parties tonight, i know i will ;)
Let 2010 be your year of love, sex and magic!! hehe
