HELLO

Hi friends... it's been a while!
I'm so sorry that i haven't been writing. I feel like i needed to get off my computer this summer, be outside and have fun. You can't blame me for that! Montreal has had amazing weather!

Also... i'm not dating at the moment, i'm actually (for once) in a committed relationship. So... it's a bit hard to share bad date behaviors when i'm with someone who's making me happy.
Trust me, we've had our moments of turmoil! We broke up for 5 months... that was more distress than any couple needs! But, we seemed to have come through it stronger and happier than ever. I made a promise not to discuss our relationship online. I know that would be very juicy for YOU guys, but it wouldn't bode well for me and my happiness at the moment...

So that being said, I can say that i just took a wonderful “non-honeymoon honeymoon” to Los Cabos Mexico with my guy. It was magical, romantic, adventurous, fun, hilarious, gastronomic, intimate, relaxing, and hot hot hot!

Also, this summer i'm continuing to check things off from my list of SUMMER OF FUN. I checked off a bunch after my 30th BIRTHDAY, but i have continued since. So, here's my update:

  1. ✔ Dive out of a plane on my 30th birthday!!
  2. ✔ Party it up for my dirty thirty on Grand Prix weekend in Montreal!
  3. ✔ ✔ Vacation  double check! St-Martin and Los Cabos !
  4. Going to the shooting range (with my sister who's the gun expert - not joking!)
  5. Bixi Bike riding in the city
  6. Weekend with the girls to celebrate our 30th birthdays this summer! seem to be having lots of mini-parties instead!
  7. Painting and drawing on my balcony/or take a class
  8. ✔ Going to watch soccer match: Manchester United vs. Real Madrid in New Jersey (July)! couldn't get tickets, but went to an Impact game instead! (not the same , but still fun)
  9. Book my tickets for the 2012 Summer Olympics (London, England) this dream is not looking hopeful...
  10. Date Date Date. Join Match.com before my 30th birthday, so that i can enter my info as being 29!! don't need to since i got back with my guy :)
  11. Master the art of making “James' Cheeseburgers”!! still needing James for this one...
  12. ✔ Walk everywhere that i can -- up and down the hill i live on...
  13. Go to church, even if it is just one Sunday
  14. ✔ Weekend away at Val's for a girl's weekend of girl talk, swimming and shopping!!
  15. ✔ Teach my godson to play soccer! (i tried... it's maybe i bit too soon...)
  16. Try to get MY knees in working condition so that i can play soccer too!!
  17. ✔ To actually finish some of the books i'm reading
  18. ✔ To email less and facetime more (this goes with buying my iphone4 in June )
  19. And finally, to have more amazing nights of drinks and catching up with friends that i don't see enough still need to do this one!

So, as the Summer is winding down, i have a few more things to do, but overall it's been an amazing Summer, despite working like a dog... promise to write more frequently, and soon! xx

CRUSHIN

Who do you have a crush on? This praise for Andrea N.Richesin's new book has got me crushin`! I was just at Chapters this weekend -- i wish i had heard about this book a little sooner -- i would have picked it up!

A compilation of authors came together and spilled their guts about their candid crushes and sprightly romances. The book, CRUSH: 26 Real-Life tales of First Love, sounds fun, whimsical and a great addition to my summer reads. sigh.. and who doesn't like a good love story? Or 26 of them!!
Speaking of which: who was YOUR first crush?
Me, it goes back to elementary school. Third grade to be precise. He was the bad boy of my grade, and the guy of my dreams! Reid. I think it had to do with his authentic leather hockey jacket (think red and blue 1990s Lakeshore league! oooo so sexy!!), and his greasy rocker-style blond hair that was always swept over one eye.

And half way through grade 3, I don't know how it happened, but suddenly we were an item. He was interested in little, awkward, skinny me! We would walk around the school yard together at break, and he would give me his jacket to wear over my shoulders so that everyone knew i was his! I hardly understood what that meant -- only that he liked me and that everyone was calling us boyfriend-girlfriend. I would watch him play in the baseball field and cheer him on. I guess the cheerleader in me was there from early on!

Finally, summer came, and HIS mom called MY mom to see if i was free to go to a chaperoned movie night! I heard my mom answer the question saying that i was at a gymnastic show that Saturday, and she was sorry but i couldn't make it…
I was devastated !! How could my mom do this to me?! My dreams were crushed… and his mom never called again…

Then, Grade 4 started, and he had a new “love” interest; called Candace. In my mind, she was the prettiest girl in school.
But don't worry, even though it hurt… I moved on… and then started my crush on Jason!
Agh the drama of elementary school love!

Hanging out with your Ex lately?

Formspring Question: How do u feel about people still hanging out with their exes to the point where the current person in the relationship is bothered by it? ask your question here

Thanks for asking that question! It's a big issue that couples do encounter all the time. I have some personal history regarding this type of issue, so if i allowed myself i would have soooo much to say.
However, there is one simple answer for you: If the friendship with an ex is bothering the current relationship (aka causing conflict between you and your boyfriend), and you CARE about your boyfriend and want it to work out, just STOP seeing your ex!

Plain and simple. Your partner should be your #1 priority. Not the ex who either broke your heart or that you dumped! Let him go, and try not to accumulate ANOTHER ex in the process!! hehe

If you care about the person your with, the decision should be simple. As an “ex” myself, i would understand! Wouldn't you?

Christmas Spirit...

The lights are up... the tree is glittering (ok only half way for now, pics to come when it's done)... presents are underneath it; ready to be wrapped... snow is on the ground... holiday songs are playing in the air... xmas movies on TV... but no xmas spirit to be found...
Makes me wonder... where does this “spirit” come from anyway?
Will it suddenly hit me?
OR maybe this year is a year, where, instead, i'll be thankful for the people in my life... and think back on this whirlwind of a year that just happened... I'll hug my mom when she's thinking of her mom who passed away. I'll hug the new friends i've made, and kiss the ones i've always had. Especially my best friend... she might just need a few extra kisses she can share with her new puppy. I'll put up some mistletoe just so that i can have another romantic kiss with my boyfriend. I'll be thankful for him, my family, my friends and all of our health. I'll send cards to my family in England, and tell my grandad i love him. I'll bring my godson toys on xmas day and kiss him til he giggles and pushes me away. I'll be thankful to see a good friend and pray for her health every night. I'll fight the bad weather and make the extra effort to see the ones that i love.

Maybe that's all xmas is about anyway... Loving the ones I love. Not because i'm supposed to. But because i can.   And maybe then... the magic of xmas will surround me...

Best line ever. Gotta love my brother. (in response to me mentioning that my boyfriend hates Chrsitmas...)
How can someone hate Christmas? That's like hating life, or babies!

Do you think that people tend to stay together out of insecurity?

Formspring question:
Have any of your long-term relationships resulted in a break-up then reconciliation? Do you think that people tend to stay together out of insecurity?
Yes, and yes. Almost every one of my serious relationships have had break-ups and make-ups ... I think every situation is different though. Some people need the drama and fights to resolve issues and move forward, others can call it quits immediately, with no room for reconciliation...
I think a lot of the time, people do tend to stay together out insecurity... especially if it's their first boyfriend and they started dating young.
How do you know he's the one, when you've never seen what else is out there?!
But that's a scary thought to many, and i think that's why people tend to stay in relationships that aren't healthy or happy. The dating world can be ruthless, and you need confidence to be successful. But the thought of finding someone who can love you unconditionally is worth the risk!!
If you're scared of leaving your significant other, just remember this... I would rather be single, happy and rocking my own life, than in a relationship that's on-and-off-again and not satisfying me!

FORMSPRING: Are you usually the chaser or the chasee?

Formspring Question: Are you usually the chaser or the chasee? I know sometimes people switch from back and forth to keep it balanced, but thinking back to your experiences with past potential guys, which side do you lean more towards?

I think in every relationship or dating situation, being the “chaser” and the “chasee” gets switched back and forth… it all depends on how much you like the person!! With people i feel a true connection with in the beginning, i'll definitely be more of a “chaser” to get things going between us!! hehe

Once the relationship has settled, i think that role switches back and forth. Often depending on events, situations and my moods! lol OMG i am completely ruled by my moods and emotions! It's sometimes a disaster! In my head, i feel like a raging maniac when it's that PMS-time of the month! I try to keep the madness inside so that people don't have to deal with crazy-emotional-me! During that time i become the “chaser”, but once i'm rational again i try to switch back to the “chasee”. Or at least i try… Us girls are complicated!

What about you? Do any of you choices stay one or the other?

Trick or Treat

So we all know that Halloween is all about candies when you're a kid, and about sex when you're a big kid ;) hehe
It's every shy girl's excuse to get sexed up and totally rock an outfit she would never normally wear.
For me, this year, just like last year ( do u remember that fun?! Tiger Woods anyone!!! Lol) I will be a sexy vampire ;) I spent so much $$ on the costume last year, that I have to at least get 2 wears out of it! Plus, it is uber hot. Only down side is that I will be at a 1 year old's birthday/Halloween party this year... So it might be a little TOO sexy... Oh well, I'll rock it anyway. Here's a preview:

I tried to convince the BF to be Stefan from Vampire Diaries, but he didn't like that idea... oh well I can pretend!! Haha

Happy Halloween my sexy readers! If u have pics of your sexy Halloween costumes, please share!! I would love to see!

I'm thinking of writing a book

So i'm thinking of writing a book... AS IF i have time, i know!
But it would be so much fun! It's just soooo funny when i get together with a good friend, grab a glass of wine, and we recap all the funny dates/exes i've had over the years: who can forget The Married Guy, The Naked Guy, The Australian! (that could be a whole book in itself, i've been holding out on you guys, i know!), The Guy who's girlfriend walked in on our date!!, The Car Guy!! I mean there's too many! I don't know if they'd fill up a whole book, but think of all the lessons I can talk about that I've learnt from each of those losers!!! I could go on forever! HAHA

Right now i'm so happy in my new found relationship, that you would think it would be soooo easy for me to forget all the craziness going on in the dating world. But OH NO CHICAS! i haven't forgotten the pool of men that are out there... in fact that “reality” reminds me everyday to work harder at the relationship i'm in so that i will hopefully never be thrown back into that “pool” LMAO. Let's cross our fingers on that one ;)

Ms Independent

I was trying to think how to write a blog post that would interest my readers. You all know that i don't go on dates anymore. Well, i do, but they are always with the same guy :) Which is awesome: as per my last blog post. No more random date with internet weirdos, no more meeting men in the most random spots! I'm not “riding solo” anymore.

At the beginning of Roxy's era, a year ago, i promised that i wouldn't discuss relationships. Not past ones, and not current ones. Relationships are hard enough to keep balanced without having someone blogging about how the other one pissed them off! LOL BUT… it seems i'm in a predicament because i want to keep writing and people want to keep reading… so… no worries, i will figure this out ;)

So, with no further ado, let's review the first topic of the week, something that's on my mind….
How do you go from being that awesome self-reliant-independent-chic that your friends love, to a heart-throb cool-as-fuck-girlfriend that he can fall in love with?

Yea... Ok, He's My Boyfriend :)

So there's always this awkward moment in a relationship where you're not sure you can say that the guy your “seeing” is your “boyfriend” or not. You never want to jump the gun and assume wrongly... but when you're only dating each other and you're exclusive, what else is there to add?

If you've kissed him, slept with him, slept at his place, met his friends... even after all that... these days, it doesn't mean that you're an item, yet.  And asking him officially “are you my boyfriend?” kind of makes it feel like you're in elementary school...

So, when is it “official” for you? When he's met your parents? When he comes to a big event with you? when he stays over? when u change ur FB relationship status?

Bridesmaid... Never a Bride...

So next weekend it's one of my BFF's weddings, and it's a full fun-packed weekend, and once again i'll be the hottest bridesmaid in town ;) hehe just kidding! There will be 3 other HOT bridesmaids at this wedding, trust me!
I kind of feel like the girl in 27 Dresses, ever seen that movie? It kind of plays on the theory of “always a bridesmaid, never a bride”. But u know what, i'm ok with that (for a while! lol). There's no rush in my life to be the next one planning a wedding. Far from it. Planning is NOT one of my strong points and i do NOT look forward to that stuff.
...the perfect ring on my finger... and the pretty dress... and a guy telling me he'll love me forever.... well... THOSE are the things that i dream about! But i guess one day, my time will come...
Maybe AFTER all these big BFF-weddings (this is the 3rd that i'm a bridesmaid in, and counting...) if i'm a lucky girl, i might just go down south one day to escape the drama of planning! Who knows what i'll do.. i'll be 50 anyways right? ;) HAHA ok enough pity-party!! My friends don't appreciate that attitude!
So... next weekend, the bachelorette is planned, the pre-wedding mani-pedis and supper is booked, the wedding-day has some last minute scheduling to be arranged, and the morning-after brunch is scheduled. What else is there to do but save up my pennies, and ENJOY!! (right KK? Enjoy! It'll be over in a flash!)

So... fellow readers, stay tuned for fun party moments!
And I know i've (kinda) given up drinking and all... but i think i'll allow myself a few drinks on this special occasion. ESPECIALLY, since it's the FIRST time that i have a DATE who will be with me at the wedding AND coming home with me AFTER the wedding!! ;) Yes yes, don't worry, i am talking about Mr.Energizer!!! You will be right J?! hahaha kisses xo

How important is it for you to have your friends like your boyfriend and vice versa?

Good question!
I find this is kind of an important question at the moment because it IS important that my friends like my significant other. Even MORE important that my sister likes him!lol But that's a whole other story!! hehe

Friends are the people who are of most importance in my life and will be around BOTH of us if things start to progress into a serious relationship. I find it interesting to know what kind of vibes people get from the guy your seeing. Things that maybe you don't notice or even think of.

Actually, this past weekend, the guy i'm seeing met one of my best friends, AND my best GUY friends—JB and K. I didn't put any extra pressure before “the meet”, but it was imperative that these friends in my life (who are very protective of me) like the “new guy”!

And thank god that they did! What i found interesting, is that THEY noticed things that i didn't. Example: apparently i was sitting on the couch, balancing a baby and a glass of wine (sounds right up my alley right?! lol) and my guy walked in the room and immediately took the glass away and put it somewhere safe. I didn't even notice this. But, this is how my guy friend KNEW that this guy is a good guy! Funny huh? But it's true, my guy (who we TOTALLY need to find a name for now -- what could it be?) he's totally attentive and always pays attention to if i'm comfortable/uncomfortable, and without saying anything he fixes the situation. It's pretty damn nice to have someone thinking of you like that!

Anyway, all to say friends opinions are of utmost importance, as I'm sure HIS are to him! Luckily i already know his best friend, but i'm sure there are a bunch more to meet!

Thanks for the questions! Keep them coming!
