HELLO

Hi friends... it's been a while!
I'm so sorry that i haven't been writing. I feel like i needed to get off my computer this summer, be outside and have fun. You can't blame me for that! Montreal has had amazing weather!

Also... i'm not dating at the moment, i'm actually (for once) in a committed relationship. So... it's a bit hard to share bad date behaviors when i'm with someone who's making me happy.
Trust me, we've had our moments of turmoil! We broke up for 5 months... that was more distress than any couple needs! But, we seemed to have come through it stronger and happier than ever. I made a promise not to discuss our relationship online. I know that would be very juicy for YOU guys, but it wouldn't bode well for me and my happiness at the moment...

So that being said, I can say that i just took a wonderful “non-honeymoon honeymoon” to Los Cabos Mexico with my guy. It was magical, romantic, adventurous, fun, hilarious, gastronomic, intimate, relaxing, and hot hot hot!

Also, this summer i'm continuing to check things off from my list of SUMMER OF FUN. I checked off a bunch after my 30th BIRTHDAY, but i have continued since. So, here's my update:

  9. Book my tickets for the 2012 Summer Olympics (London, England) this dream is not looking hopeful...
  10. Date Date Date. Join Match.com before my 30th birthday, so that i can enter my info as being 29!! don't need to since i got back with my guy :)

  12. ✔ Walk everywhere that i can -- up and down the hill i live on...

I've alluded to my Summer of Fun in previous blog posts, but here i go officially launching my Summer of Fun 2011!!!
This was all brought on by my 30th birthday that's coming up this June. Wanted to make sure i took advantage of being (still) young, single, living in my cute apartment in the city, with the least responsibilities that i will ever have!
So, here's the list of things i will do during this summer of fun! Feel free to write me if you can think of something else fun that i should add to the list!!

Roxy's Readings

So i finish my first book from the library! The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell.
What can i say?... it was cute, light and fun. Carrie is definitely not the va-va-voom shoe-obsessed crazy girl we've all come to love on Sex And The City, but what did i expect? In this book, Carrie's an insecure teenager, who just wants a boy to love her!

At least there's some comfort in knowing that we all go through awkward phases, and moments of insecurity, before BIG things happen in our lives. And also, to know, that when you want something bad enough, dreams do come true! So, if you want a book to read while sipping a daiquiri on the beach with your friends this summer, this is definitely a good pick! ...But, if you're looking for something deep and meaningful, this is not the one for you.
Oh and i just have to say that my favorite part of the whole book is the last line! For those that have read it, i'm sure you know what i mean. I won't ruin it for the rest of you! xo
So, NEXT, i have quite a few books on my list to read. I've already taken the big plunge and started The Passage by Justin Cronin. It's a sci-fi about vampires with a twist (so i'm told). And it's got rave reviews, including an advance praise from Stephen King. This book will take me a long time to read tho! I'm not a fast reader and it's 766 pages (hardcover!)! So... it might be a while before my next review! xo

Here's MY SEXY BOOK WORM LIST if you're looking for a new summer read:
Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert i want to read and know what all the fuss it about before it comes out in theaters!
Crazy Busy Beautiful by Carmindymy BFF bought this for me for my bday and even though i've started flipping through it, i want to read it properly from cover to cover!
It's Not Him, It's YOU by Christie Hartman, PhD This is my little secret book at the moment! I'm reading it simultaneously to other books and it's the best dating advice i've heard in years! Stay tuned!
The Other Side of The Story by Marian KeyesI haven't read many of  her novels, but some of my girlfriends love Keyes' writing. This one's on my bedside table waiting to be opened.

Recap: Girls Weekend in TO!

Here's the recap of my awesome girls' weekend!! I visited my friend Val in Mississauga for girls talk, wine drinking, gossiping, shopping and tanning :)

Only hard thing about the weekend was all the driving... I'm recovering from the 5.5hr drive x 2 in 48hrs. That's alot for one single girl!  But Rihanna, Hedley and many other randoms kept me in good company during the drive! ;)

RECAP of FUN TIMES:
• Arriving Friday late at night (after watching the disappointing England World Cup game... no comment)
• Saturday was wine day -- i discovered a whole world of wine in Niagra on the Lake (beautiful area!). Bought 2 bottles of wines that i loved (ok so, i will just drink these bottles and THEN be off the booze for good like i promised! HAHA

• My friend and I had an awesome organic lunch at a restaurant in a vineyard with a gorgeous view of the valley. I need to send my sister there! She'd love it!

• We ordered Szechuan delivery for supper, and rented When in Rome on Rogers demand (cute!). Perfect lazy end to a busy day!
• Sunday we got up and shop shop shopped til we dropped! Or, actually until my credit card couldn't take any more!! HAHA So many nice new things -- including gorgeous shoes! ... i just couldn't resist. Damn i'm bad. Oh well, happy belated birthday to me!! lol
• Sunday yummy lunch and afternoon spent by Val's pool. Soooo relaxing in the sun. So much in fact that i didn't realize the time go by, and had to rush around when i realized it was already 4:45! I left at 5:15 for my long drive back home solo...
• P.S. Thank god for RedBull when ur tired driving at night!
• P.P.S. McDs isn't a good idea to eat twice in one weekend...

Home sweet home! thanks for the weekend Val! Always so much fun! xo

I can cry if i want to.

So peeps, yes it's true. Today is my birthday. Same day as the premiere of World Cup 2010. Same weekend as Grand Prix Montreal. But, really. We can all agree that my birthday is the most important out of the bunch. ;)
28 has been a rocky year of mixed emotions (actually, what year hasn't?!), but a truly awesome one. I have reasons to celebrate, reasons to be thankful, reasons to smile, reasons to hug my friends and kiss my godson, reasons to laugh, and reasons to cry.

Tonight, i am celebrating my 29th birthday with my closest friends and my siblings. A year ahead full of hope, health, happiness and love. At least that's what i'm wishing for.

And tonight, we'd better have fun! The planning for this night was a nightmare. I thought i was going to have to cancel, but then, by a strange miracle it got saved by a close colleague of mine. It's weird how things work out sometimes... It just goes to show, that we all just have to stay positive and good things will come!
So, on that note.
Let the good times begin bitches!! xoxo
P.S. no worries, i do indeed have a designated driver to drag me back home when i'm drunk off my ass ;)

Health, love and happiness.
